Everyone Can
Training is
provided for teaching students with moderate and severe intellectual
disabilities at any age level to read using research based
strategies that have proven effective in teaching this population of
students reading skills. The approach is language and sight word
based and provides for rapid exposure to high interest text through
direct instruction, visual cues, repetition, age appropriate student
interests and experiences, use of systematic prompting, and time
delay. Training for generalization is also incorporated. This
approach is excellent for students participating in an alternate
curriculum and assessment and for students who need to develop
language skills. Teachers can learn to use this approach in only
half day, and necessary materials can easily be obtained at little
or no cost.
